These cards were rarely played, if at all. They are near mint or better except for one card. Attached pics show the back of one card - 'Scientist Hannah Bates' - you will notice some slight scratches on card. It does not detract from the face card. An interesting point on one group of cards - 'Ensign McKnight' - ALL backs of these four cards have the exact same spot in the exact same place on each one one. ( a white spot on the lower left hand side of card. ( manufacturing defect). They are NOT surface marks and are within the image when it was produced.
