The Deep Space 9 Expansion was first released during the Operation Return OP Event as a Participation Prize. This version featured only an oversized, double-sided space station token and two ship cards. At the conclusion of the tournament, the grand prize given to the winner was a Pre-painted Oversize Miniature of DS9, similar to the later released retail version.
